Friday's travels and Saturday at the track

We're on the plane, on our way

and we went straight to the track to register the team,

then we found a great, local place for dinner, complete with outdoor concert!

We visited Dunkin Donuts before the sun came up and arrived at the track EARLY the next morning (6:30am) to begin Day 1.

Kathleen had improved performances in 3 events and finished 20th!

Our friend, Chad, put out fires.....

Ben had PR's in 3 events and ended Day 1 in 4th place with five events still to go!

This is where Coach John wanted to coach long jump....

and this is how he coaches high jump!

Tyra Gittens worked hard, finishing Day 1 in the lead in the heptathlon!

The coaches ended the day with dinner and an adventure you can't leave Detroit without!!!!

Sunday, July 28 (Detroit in progress.....)

Day 2 at the track began early!!! and the first thing that happened was:

a waterfowl casualty (the duck lost a battle with Coach Kirstyn's backpack...oops!)

As always, we're first to the track and last to leave.  This is your coaching staff at 6:40am waiting for the gates to open!

Then we got to work, with more personal bests from Nikki, resulting in a 9th place finish in the heptathlon, Chris battling on in the decathlon, and Johnathon Clausi getting off to a great start in the pentathlon running a PR in the hurdles.

At the end of the day, we raced to the awards area to see JC receive his 4th place medal!!!

While we waited on Coach Brandon and Chris to finish the 3 hour, 40 minute pole vault competition, Coach Jan walked on the beach,

Then we took Nikki out and celebrated by making her try Gator Tail.  She was a great sport and found out...tastes like chicken! hahahah, no, really,

she liked it!
